Divorce Mediation is a process that divorced couples enter into either voluntarily or as ordered by a court
to resolve disputes that the couple has been unable to resolve on their own. Mediation is a cost-effective alternative
to litigating disputes, which involve expensive attorney-time and court costs. The mediator does not decide how the dispute
should be settled (as a conciliator or arbitrator would), but facilitates the couple into finding their own solutions and
agreeing upon them. Mediated agreements are better than court-ordered agreements in a large part because the couple
reaches the agreement together, thus they are both "invested" in making sure the agreement is adhered to.
Dr. Richardson has been trained in Divorce Mediation by the Divorce Mediation Institute in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
He has mediated a great many protracted post-divorce disputes successfully since 1992. If you would like Divorce Mediation
